Union Biblical Seminary (UBS) Yangon, Burma Graduation Ceremony

Another crop of young men and women graduated this year from the Union Biblical Seminary in Yangon, Burma. We believe that the local church is the central hub of all that God seeks to accomplish in hearts, homes, and communities. Thats why the people of Interhope place such a high priority on efforts which strengthen the church, both the sending church and the emerging church on the mission field. The work of Dr. Morris Liana in Burma presents a fantastic opportunity for God’s people to participate in the Great Commission of the resurrected Christ charging His followers to “Go and make disciples of all nations…” Burma, now officially known as Myanmar, is a country in Southeast Asia where less than 5% of the population practices Christianity. 89% are Buddhists, their temples rising in great numbers across the countryside.

Pray for the new graduates of the Union Biblical Seminary as they fan out across Burma to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to a culture largely lost to Him. UBS is an emerging institution in the teeming city of Yangon. This biblical training institute is wholly supported by the gifts of God’s people who reach out to future and present generations on the front lines of the mission field. A shortage of competent, well-trained ministerial leadership is the greatest roadblock to the growth of churches on the mission field. UBS as founded and led by Dr. Morris Liana are following hard after God to provide the pastoral training needed to give birth to many new church communities. This work is 100% led by Burmese nationals who minister to their own countrymen with far greater effectiveness (and for a much lower cost) than could ever be achieved by foreign-born missionaries.

Praise God for the perseverance and dedication of Dr. Liana and his staff. May God continue to bless them and the recent graduates who go into their country to spread the Word of God. Ron and I will pray everyday for these new missionaries.
